Bay with an area of 6,048 m2 located in West Fabrik, inside the Volkswagen de México plant, with the following dimensions: 168m x36m and 21m height.
This bay has a high load capacity, as well as a basement which was designed to receive production loads with shocks of up to 1,000 tons in its main press, which was structured with a system of pylons and reinforced concrete slab.
The building’s metallic structure is pre-engineered, based on mostly 3-plaque, rolled steel sections of A-50 steel, which supports the roof weight and the dynamic action of two, 65-ton, travelling derricks which move either independently or simultaneously. It also has a 500 m2 annex with its own, 30-ton travelling derrick for the warehouse and steel flat movements.
The volume of structural concrete used in this job was approximately 10,000 m3, approximately 2,000 tons of reinforcing steel were used, as well as over 1,000 tons of A-50 structure and 9,000 m2 of sheet steel of different types and calibers for facades and roofing.
The reinforced-concrete floor was designed to resist great storage weight and the movement of equipment for the change of dies. Some areas were covered with an imported metallic floor and others were polished and a special hardener was applied to avoid wear.
